🤔 Both Can Be True was an unusual and somewhat strange story for me at first, but I ultimately enjoyed it. The story follows two estranged sisters, Mere and Frankie, whose lives become connected to the disappearance of a local mother.

⚖️ The book demonstrates how two seemingly conflicting things can both be true at the same time. This is an idea I’ve heard people mention more often lately, but I had never given it much thought before experiencing this story.

🔍 The premise was fresh and creative, and I liked how the mystery demonstrated that different versions of an event can exist together. Each person can experience the same situation differently without one perspective necessarily making the other untrue.

✍️ The writing was strong, polished, and engaging. The story was thought-provoking, layered, and emotionally powerful, exploring complicated subjects such as sisterhood, motherhood, addiction, marriage, trauma, and the different ways a woman can disappear within her own life.

👭 Mere and Frankie felt believable and well developed. Their complicated relationship, shared history, and different perspectives helped bring the story together. Their experiences demonstrated how love, resentment, pain, and loyalty can all exist within the same relationship.

🎧 The full-cast narration was strong, engaging, and very enjoyable. The different voices helped distinguish the characters and made their individual perspectives easier to follow.

🌙 Julie’s Final Verdict

Both Can Be True was an intriguing and enjoyable audiobook that gave me a different way of thinking about truth and perspective. Although the story felt a little strange at times, it held my attention and became much more meaningful as its different layers came together.

I appreciated the way Jessica Guerrieri explored the idea that people can experience the same event differently—and that two conflicting perspectives can sometimes both contain truth. The believable characters, complicated relationships, emotional themes, and engaging narration made this a memorable four-star listen.
