Nine Month Contract was a good book. I enjoyed it, and I thought it was cute, but it wasn’t a romance that really stood out to me.

I think part of my problem is that so many romance novels are starting to feel the same. There’s the incredibly attractive guy, the woman he falls for, the chemistry, the spice, and all the familiar situations that come along with it. After reading this type of story so many times, it’s becoming harder for a romance to really surprise me.

I like spice in my books, but I don’t need it constantly. I want the relationship itself to pull me in. I want the characters, their lives, and their connection to give me something that makes me care about them beyond their physical attraction. There were also parts of this story that felt a little unbelievable to me, and that made it harder for me to become completely invested.

That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it, because I did. It was cute, entertaining, and an easy read. It just didn’t give me anything particularly new or memorable, and that’s ultimately why it landed at three stars.

🌙 Julie’s Final Verdict

Nine Month Contract was a cute romance and I enjoyed reading it, but it also reminded me how much I want something different from the romances I’m reading now. Give me the chemistry and the spice, but also give me a story and characters that surprise me and make me feel something.

This was a good three-star read, but it didn’t leave me eager to immediately pick up the next book. At this point, I’m just not sure whether I’ll continue with the series.
