📖 The Night We Lost Him was a pretty fast read for me. I’ve enjoyed Laura Dave’s books before because she knows how to keep me invested, and this story encouraged me to continue reading with every chapter.
💔 The love story between Liam and Cory was the part that affected me the most. Learning why they couldn’t be together genuinely broke my heart. Their relationship added an emotional depth to the story that I wasn’t expecting, and I found myself caring about what had happened between them.
👨👧👦 The complicated relationships Sam, Nora, and Tommy had with their father also felt very believable. Each of them knew a different version of Liam, and their struggles showed how one person can have separate lives and relationships with different members of the same family.
🔍 I enjoyed watching the pieces of Liam’s life come together as his children searched for answers about who he really was and what happened to him. The mystery kept the story moving, while the family relationships gave it heart.
✨ Overall, this was a nice and enjoyable read. It kept me interested and included a love story that touched my heart, but it ultimately settled into the three-star range for me rather than becoming a book that left a stronger, lasting impression.

Sam, Nora, and Tommy’s complicated relationships with their father also felt believable and added depth to the story. I enjoyed uncovering the different parts of Liam’s life alongside his children. This was a touching family mystery and a nice read overall, but it landed at a solid three stars for me.
